Ducati 749R Custom Sportiva by Radical Ducati

Ducati 749R, once what was designed by Pierre Terblanche, has now been up-lifted to another level by Radical Ducati. Our Spanish friend Pepo from Radical Ducati has just rolled out another chef-d’oeuvre a Ducati 749R aka 7 ½ Sportiva.

I am amazed to see the detailed transformation of this custom Ducati 749R. The amount of bikes rolling out from Pepo’s workshop is insane, yet the quality of each build is as radical as a custom Ducati could be. I bet Pepo has plenty of ideas up in his sleeve to keep our custom craving going on and on.

Lets get a little flashback about Ducati 749R “ The Ducati 749 was a sport bike built between 2003 and 2006 it featured a 90-degree L Twin Desmodromic valve actuated engine. The 749 was offered as the 749, 749 Dark, 749S, and 749R. A limited number of the Ducati 749 were manufactured as a race version. Each of these race versions of 749 was stamped on their triple clamp with “The 749R” along with their production number.”

Back on Pepo’s transformation, the base for this build was a donor Ducati 749R. The radical transformation of the Sportiva started by stripping the stock bike down to the engine. At the front the modification includes a RAD 02 montjuich aluminum front bracket, Ohlins front fork, RAD 02 fiberglass montjuich front fairing fitted with an endurance type headlight.

Radical Ducati's custom Ducati 749R SportivaAt the rear this custom Ducati 749R features a montjuich aluminum rear subframe, Ohlins front shock and a Montesa rear light. With a RAD 02 fiberglass montjuich solo seat and a hand made license plate support.

The tank of Sportiva is an original 749R; the stock 749 engine features magnesium head covers and fitted with Pepo’s favorite Wolfman 2 in to 1 exhaust system with spark omologated megaphone. The essential carbon fiber modification includes a front and rear mudguard, swingarm protector and belt cover water pump protectors, the ideal way to shred weight off this beauty. All the electric wiring, ECU and regulator were relocated to clean up the look of the Sportiva.

Other modification includes SP regulable ergal footrest, Brembo radial calipers and rotors, Brembo PR 19 radial brake pump, RAD blinkers and Lipo Battery. The finished bike has been beautifully captured by talented photographer Del Perro, fire up the image gallery to appreciate Pepo’s latest creation.
