Yamaha VMax Hyper Modified by Roland Sands Design

The search for Loch Ness Monster is over! Our personal favorite Roland Sands has created a monster out of Yamaha’s legendary muscle VMAX. Stop your expedition and read the build of one of the finest custom Yamaha VMAX.

First revealed at EICMA 2011, Yamaha wanted to put one of their best production bikes in the hands of the world’s most renowned custom builders. The idea was to go beyond the performance of V41700cc 200HP and explore the endless universe of customizing.

To begin the build Roland Sands stripped down this beauty naked, what was left was the mesmerizing Power-Plant and Roland Sands wanted to keep it sleek and light to showcase the heart of this machine.

With the body work RSD decided to make it smooth and slightly angular, which balances perfectly with the crisp delivery of the engine. Our personal favorite is the Café looking modified carbon fiber rear end, which also makes perfect lines with the rest of the bike. RSD didn’t like the bulbous tail section of the stock Yamaha VMAX and replaced it with a trim custom unit which matches perfectly to a bullet seat and undertail exhaust system.

Roland Sands also relocated the gas tank to an aluminum belly tank, which is located below the swingarm. The signature Yamaha VMAX hunky scoop intake was trimmed down to bring it closer to the tank and also features a RSD badge. RSD also installed Renthal clip-on bars, another café style which compliments the fresh aggressive nature of the beast. This custom Yamaha VMAX was transformed and was ready to be painted by RSD’s personal favorite Chris Wood from Airtrix. This beauty was dressed in pinstriped suits and appeared at the at EICMA 2011 Milan Italy with 2 other custom Yamaha VMAX Hyper Modified bikes.
