We have to admit that prior to the 2011 AMD World championships we didn’t know very much about Abnormal Cycles, Italy.
What we like about them is not just the fact they took out the title of 2011 AMD World Championships Modified Harley-Davidson Class with their superb creation ‘Union‘. It is the excitement and enthusiasm they showed when they were announced as winners, the hard work, time and commitment to creating something spectacular was recognized with a well-deserved award.
Today we are taking a look at a 1948 Panhead ‘FL48’ from Abnormal Cycles also a winner of the Modified Harley-Davidson Class at the 2010 AMD European Championships. This is just another example that Samuele Reali and the rest of the team at Abnormal Cycles are right on the money with their creations.
This vintage looking beauty is based on a 1948 1200 Panhead engine which was completely rebuilt and fitted with a vintage Linkert carburetor with ‘bird deflector’ cover, all of this has been put together on the perfect rigid frame.
Looking at the bike you can see for yourself that the guys from Abnormal Cycles have used great vintage components. Up front is the Indian style leaf spring suspension, a vintage Gazda Lenker handlebar fitted with a 16-inch Jonica front and rear wheels. Abnormal Cycles slow front brake and Kastom-teck rear brake, enough to calm down this vintage beauty. The bike also features an in-house custom-made 2 into 1 wrapped up exhaust system, hand fabricated rear fender and fuel tank. The front headlight came from Veterama-Manhaim and was found at a swap meet.
Finished in vintage style bronze paint, this Panhead ‘FL48’ is loaded with passion, craftsmanship and perfectionism; to us this is the perfect combination of ride-ability and show stopper beauty!
