The land of the Rising Sun and manufacturer of many popular motorbike brands. Ladies and Gentleman we are talking about Japan, well known around the world for their food, discipline and passion for vintage and modern motorbikes.
During the late 1950s Japanese motorcycles spread into Europe and the United States, challenging the other major motorbike manufacturers. These Japanese motorcycles were fast, reliable, attractive and affordable.
Japan has an active custom bike culture producing some of the most amazing Japanese custom bikes by putting their own flair and mixing Café Racers and Street Trackers. The one we are talking about today is a Yamaha XS650 custom, it’s been built by Okayama city based ‘Big Moon’ custom shop.
The bike is based on a 1978 Yamaha XS650. The parallel twin, four-stroke engine was cleaned up and reassembled, the tail section of the frame was modified to accommodate a new seat. Our personal favorite is the 2 into 2 custom pipes and the muffler, the Yamaha XS650 custom rolls on Coker tires.
This bike also feature a Tracker handle bar, a General-purpose mini meter and Bates type-A headlight. Big moon also made a custom back step and a custom seat.
This Yamaha XS650 custom is one stunning motorbike and I am sure there is lots more work involved in this build. Enjoy the photo gallery and visit the Big Moon website to look at some of their other awesome creations.
Special thanks to Eiji from Big Moon for the information.
