A classic cafe style Yamaha XS400 has just rolled out of MotoHanger’s Washington DC garage. MotoHangar has already been featured on Moto Rivista with a few marvelous creations.

The motorcycles MotoHangar build have a great sense of individuality. Their Suzuki GT550, Honduki was by far one of the most unique looking Suzuki’s we have ever featured. Lets get down to the feature of today this custom Yamaha XS400.

XS400 MotoHangarAccording to Pat “This bike was one that kind of fell at our feet. The bike had really low miles and was in good shape, so we decided to only change a couple things about it cosmetically. The idea for the build was to keep the budget low and go for MotoHangar style of a more traditional looking Cafe bike.”

The base for the build was a 1977 Yamaha XS400 that was fully serviced and tuned up. The front suspension was adjusted for a bit more dampening and preload. The fabrication work on this Yamaha XS400 includes a fiberglass tailpiece and custom seat. At the front the bike features 1950’s amber tint fog light and standard steel clip-ons. At the rear it has a Lucas style taillight and a custom upholstered low profile vinyl seat.

According to Pat ‘Since we were trying to do everything in house, our biggest challenge was working with the paint. We used a lacquer on this one, which was difficult. Black paint in general seems to show off any defects, so it was a bit challenging to get it nice and glossy’

The finished bike rolls on Shinko SR712F front and rear tires, the wheels were painted to follow the accents on the tank and the tail.

This bike is currently for sale on eBay, you will need to get in quick the auction is finishing in about 13 hours!
