Today’s feature motorcycle built by The Factory Metal Works brings both a Rocker and his custom Triumph T100. We can’t imagine a world without music or motorcycles. Both are driven by an adrenaline rush and scream out the sound of freedom.
The custom shop that rocked the Rocker is Concord, NC based The Factory Metal Works (TFMW), a custom shop and parts manufacturer specializing in bespoke classic motorcycles. Owned and operated by former motocross racer and NASCAR chassis builder Lucas Joyner.
The Factory Metal Works brings to life true vintage show bike builds with new age trends and technology, mixing old school ideas and appearances to make for a more reliable motorcycle. TFMW also utilizes new methods of fabrication and in-house part designs.
This custom Triumph T100 was built for Butch Walker, an American recording artist, songwriter and record producer. Who has written and produced albums for artists such as Bowling for Soup, Pink, Avril Lavigne, Lit, Sevendust, The Donnas, American Hi-Fi, and SR-71.
According to Lucas “It’s an honor to have been able to build this custom 1966 Triumph T100 for Butch. He gave me a basic idea of what he wanted and let me run with it, which made the build process really enjoyable. I’m extremely stoked he likes the end result.”
I am not surprised to see the end result, this is what happens when one artist meets another!
“The Black Widow” is based on a 500cc 1966 Triumph T100 and named for Butch Walker’s band “The Black Widows’. It is a culmination of several months of fabrication and customization with most of the parts on this bike being The Factory Metal Works own custom parts. Butch Walker’s Custom Triumph T100 features a full factory metal works 500 custom frame. A custom 1.750-rippled drag pipes in Chrome and a custom ribbed Wassell Peanut tank. The fabrication work includes ribbed rear fenders, rear fender sissy and chromed brake plates.
At the front this bike has polished front narrow conversional forks. The bike also has a The Factory Metal Works vintage style oil tank in chrome. The finished bike rolls on 21-inch front wheel wrapped in Avon Speedmaster tires and 18-inch rear Firestone tire. To add a little vintage touch on the bike Lucas has used brass inspection caps, brass rocker caps and a brass kicker. The upholstery work includes a custom The Factory Metal Works vintage brown solo seat and custom seat hinge.
According to Butch Walker “This is probably the coolest motorcycle I’ve ever owned. There isn’t anything else like it on the street and Lucas and his team at The Factory Metal Works were a pleasure to work with. I knew immediately that Lucas understood my style and can honestly say he took my ideas and made them real”.
