Custom Sportster by Deus Ex Machina

There are people who eat, sleep and breathe custom Harley’s and then there are those who say a custom Harley is not my style.

One sure fire way to turn these guys around is to get Sydney based Deus Ex Machina to work their magic and build a bike like their latest offering a Custom Sportster aka ‘The Bald Terrier 1200’. Deus can make you like the motorcycle you think you hate, taking an average looking motorcycle and turning them into a piece of art is their passion and expertise. This is a bike which might be able to please every one, based on the original Deus V Twin Cafe Racer, ‘The Bald Terrier 1200’ offers a little bit more performance and to stop the beast a lot more brakes.

HD Sportster Bald Terrier tankWhat you see here started out as a stock 2007 fuel injected Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200. The stock bike was stripped down and the part list was written up. The customization ceremony started with 19 and 18 inch custom wheel sets and upgraded brake caliper and the rotors .

Tingate was commissioned to supply the one off inch clip on bars. A Vance & Hines performance exhaust and the Storz rear sets were modified to suit. ‘The Bald Terrier 1200’ also features Performance Machines gas air filter, custom length Ikon rear dampers and a Daytona electric speedo.

Although ‘The Bald Terrier 1200’ is based on the original Deus V Twin Cafe Racer certain elements were added to make it a bit more distinguished including the black hard chroming of the fork sliders. For the fuel tank Deus has used a heavily modified SR400 tank, which hides the stock fuel pump and the vessel and is held down by a bespoke alloy strap.

The sub frame was hand fabricated along with the one off rear guard and a seat unit to give it a custom café style. ‘The Bald Terrier 1200’ took the leap of faith on the Dyno and was blessed with Holy performance power.

Born in Camperdown and now living with the new owner in Melbourne, this is another fine example from the guys at Deus. Still think a custom Harley is not your style?? We didn’t think so!
