Yamaha XJR 1200 Mastino by Emporio Elaborazioni Meccaniche

Hailing from the Italian City of Rome is Emporio Elaborazioni Meccaniche aka EE. A custom shop owned and operated by good friends who work together closely to deliver their passion through custom motorcycles.

Last week we featured their 1984 Yamaha XJ600 “Sriscia Nera” (Black stripe) café racer. Today we are taking a look at their creation 1995 Yamaha XJR1200 aka “Mastino” (Bulldog).

According to Andrea “This custom Yamaha XJR1200 is the shortest bike we made. We first worked to heavily reduce weight, to improve performances we reworked the engine and the carburetors, removed the air box, put forks with Hyperpro kit, Öhlins for the back, 4 in one Vance & Hines with a final Megaton …and a lot of other stuff. We rebuilt the back frame and made support for the plate and turning lights.

Emporio Elaborazioni MeccanicheOur idea was a vintage clean powerful but not obvious cafè. So we started to image solutions… as the 13 wrench used to fix tank and seat. We make a small place under the seat for an alu whiskey bottle and decided to paint Mastino with not classic “racing” colors, to complete the look and feel we “quoted” the comics ballon on the tank..more or less the things every biker thinks when the bike stops caused the empty tank!

The engine of the Yamaha XJR1200 was ruined by the past owner so we decided to buy better cylinders and cams. The carburetors were also rusted so we open all and restored each.”

Andrea’s personal favorite on this custom Yamaha XJR1200 is the balance between a very serious power and a “notorious” design, the old Ducati tank seems perfect for this bike!
