Yamaha SR500

It was 2006 when Tjeerd Plug first established Short Cut Choppers, a custom workshop in The Netherlands. Since then they have been modifying, building and selling choppers, bobbers and trackers.

Short Cut Choppers find inspiration in both the Japanese and older traditional style of chopper building. They are also happy to offer help and knowledge to home builders, so if you have started a project and get a little stuck or need some help with frame modifications, welding, wiring or fitting parts these are the people to see.

Yamaha SR500 Tracker by Short Cut Choppers 5The one we are featuring today is their Yamaha SR500 Tracker. Based on a 1999 Yamaha’s SR500 the bike features a stock 499CC single cylinder engine with K&N power filter all fitted with a Megaton matte black exhaust system. The frame was shaved and the rear end was modified in the traditional way to achieve the Tracker transformation. Short Cut Choppers also modified the front fender and relocated it to the rear and installed a BT&E limp dick rear light. The handmade electric box is hidden under the seat-pan and there is no battery only a kick start for this tracker. This bike also features a 70’s Elco style Fiberglass flattrack gastank.

The handlebars were taken from a Yamaha Virago and fitted with a stock raiser. At the front the bike features a retro looking Bates spotlight. SR500 Tracker rolls on 18-inch stock wheels wrapped in Firestone champion deluxe tires, another nice little retro touch. This Yamaha SR500 Tracker also features handmade soloseat by Marcel from Miller Kustom Upholstery. Last but not least Bart from KustomBart.nl did the beautiful paint job.

This beautiful Yamaha SR500 tracker was featured in BigTwin Magazine and Another World of Choppers magazines.
