CL350 Brat-Tracker

This 1972 Honda CL350 Brat-tracker bike was built by a guy with a dream, the guy down the road who is his spare time likes to build bikes.

Jonathan ‘Woody’ Wood is a Graphic Designer and owner of ‘Running Doves Press’ a boutique letterpress shop out of Kansas. A passionate motorcycle enthusiast ‘Woody’ is also a casual bike builder with a keen eye and some serious design skills.

Woody's 1972 HONDA CL350 Brat-Tracker 6This build started with a 1972 Honda CL350, the bike was clean and just needed a carb rebuild, new battery and some gas and there you go it’s ready to fire up. But Jonathan was not looking for the easy way; it was the time for him to transform the 1972 Honda CL350 into this Brat-Tracker, a combination of bratstyle and street-tracker inspiration.

From then on Woody’s Honda CL350 went through some modifications, which included lowering 1 inch off the rear fork and 1.5 inches in the front, the installation of 12 inch Redwing shocks and chromed pipes. This beauty rolls on 19″x4″ front and 18″x4″ rear wheels wrapped in Firestone deluxe tires. The rear fender was bobbed, removing the extra bracing on the sides of the fender to make it skinny looking.

For the rear Cowl, Jonathan made a template of paper and then scanned it in flat to make an autocad file, he then had a fabrication shop CNC plasma cut the cowl out of 16G steel. The seat upholstery on this Brat-Tracker was done by Scott Downy at Downey’s Auto Upholstery. We love the paint work by Josh Christy at VanChase Studio, all new but looking like it is straight out of the 70’s with dirt track fading and distress.

Also impressing was the build time, 3 months from start to photo shoot. Capturing a 70’s theme the images of this bike are perfect and excite the team at Moto Rivista, so often we find awesome bike builds but there are no high resolution images to match. Well done Jonathan!
